Meet Alison Salas, Senior Marketing Manager

Tell me a bit about yourself
I’ve been working in marketing for a number of years across numerous sectors from Tourism, Arts and Culture, Education, Manufacturing, IT, Recruitment and most recently inward investment.
I went to University in Edinburgh, gaining a BA (Hons) worked in New York, gained a husband (!) and then decided on a career in marketing completing the CIMs professional postgraduate diploma in Marketing.

What is your role with the RDA
I’m the senior marketing manager here. The mission of the RDA is to encourage inward investment to benefit the residents and businesses here. I’m lucky enough to have worked on projects such as Atom Valley, CEAMS (advanced materials) and most recently the Town of Culture.

Why did you choose to work with the RDA
The wide variety of projects which the company works on and the fact that you know you are making a difference. There aren’t many roles where you plan a campaign around advanced materials in the morning, tourism at lunch time and culture and placemaking in the afternoon.

What projects do you work on
All of them!
It is essential that the RDA communicates to potential businesses, investors, partners and funders what a great opportunity we have here and it is essential that we speak to businesses already here so they are aware of the vast amount of support that is available.

What do you really enjoy about your profession?
The creativity needed to achieve and deliver a project. Looking at audiences, data, KPIs and taking very dry information and making appealing to the audience so that they take action and invest, or visit or stay to grow.

What makes you get up in the morning?
The fact that anything is possible. It’s a brand new day and life is for living! Oh and seeing how our campaigns have done!

I’m really good at playing the clarinet.
