Haden Young Takes Advantage
of Rochdale Skills Pool
“Rochdale Employment Partnership simplified the early days so we could
hit the ground running.”
Haden Young, one of the UK’s leading building services companies,
opened a module manufacturing base in the Heywood area of Rochdale Borough
in October 2006 and received hundreds of CVs in response to jobs adverts.
The ready skills pool as well as a first-rate transport network to accommodate
a fleet of large vehicles were two of the appealing factors for the choice
of location.
Ernie Price, Operations Manager, says the support received from Rochdale
Employment Partnership during those early days was invaluable.
“We advertised 12 posts and were greatly impressed by the response.
Rochdale Employment Partnership oversaw the early stages of recruitment and
eventually made a short-list of 35. The calibre was very high and we would
have given jobs to the large majority of those applicants. It simplified
those early days to ensure we could hit the ground running quickly.
The Heywood base is involved in specialist assembly production and is currently
recruiting again. Ernie added: “There are opportunities for future
expansion. Rochdale has much to offer in terms of support for businesses.”
Haden Young has a record of achievement going back to the industrial revolution.
Today, the company employs some 1,500 people countrywide and provides expertise
in design installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical services.
From the original company founded in 1816, Haden Young has progressed into
a market leader in the modern building services industries.
After nearly two centuries of solid success, the organisation is confidently
moving forward, always being ready to adopt the latest industry innovations
and techniques.
By continually focusing on achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction,
the company has survived every slump and recession in its history and has
been linked with prestigious projects spanning two centuries - from the installation
of the first warm air stove in Windsor Castle in 1826 to the cooling system
for the Channel Tunnel and the new British Library.
More recently, Haden Young has been part of the consortia to work on new
hospital schemes such as the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Millennium projects
including the Lowry Centre in Salford.
With an annual turnover growing to £300 million and an increased focus
on both the public and private sectors in education, health and regeneration
projects, Haden Young is destined to continue as a market leader in its industry. |
