John Hudson
Chief Executive, Rochdale Development Agency
John has over 25 years experience in the planning, economic development
and urban regeneration fields. Prior to his appointment as RDA Chief Executive
he was Head of Economic and Physical Development at Bolton MBC.
John joined RDA in 1993 as its first Chief Executive and has been instrumental
in making the organisation the main delivery vehicle for an ambitious programme
of economic and urban regeneration in Rochdale borough. From modest beginnings
John has developed the organisation into a 25 strong team of planners, surveyors,
regeneration specialists and support staff.
Under John’s leadership RDA has established an impressive track-record
and enjoys an excellent reputation with both public sector organisations
and the private sector. The Agency is now heavily involved in a major public
investment programme worth some £1 billion over the next decade, which
is expected to generate substantial levels of private investment.
John has played a leading role in bringing the massive Kingsway Business
Park to the delivery stage, securing the initial public funding support and
then facilitating effective partnership working between the public and private
sectors.
He has had an executive role in delivering several successful area and urban
renewal programmes, including the current Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder
programme. He has also been instrumental in delivering some major town centre
regeneration schemes, and is about to launch a major redevelopment scheme
in Rochdale Town Centre.
John is married to Louise, who manages a fostering and adoption team at
Salford Council. They have two children. |
