Business units to be developed at Bridge Point, Rochdale
The site of the former Alexander Drew factory will be transformed into a new exclusive business space development.
The textile company left the site after going out of business in 2006. The building was ravaged by fire a year later.
Now the 1.25 acre Bridge Point development, at Mellor Street, will transform the site.
Rochdale Development Agency (RDA) will be leading the campaign to bring businesses to Bridge Point.
Julie Evans, Business Development Manager for RDA, said, “The site is great news for the future development of Rochdale. RDA is committed to bringing new businesses close to the town centre of Rochdale and to encourage private sector growth. Bridge Point is a prime example of how we are looking to achieve this.
“We have a number of business parks across the borough that put us in a strong position to attract new investment that can drive our economy.”
Bridge Point will offer a mix of industrial warehouse and trade counter units, ranging from 4,000sq ft to 20,000sq ft, and is located in a popular business and industrial district close to Rochdale town centre.
The site is being developed by Seddon – which has also recently opened the popular Axis Point development in Heywood – with Nolan Redshaw and Davies Harrison acting as joint agents.
The scheme is adjacent to the proposed residential housing development by Seddon Homes, on the remainder of the Alexander Drew site.
Jamie Seddon, Managing Director at developer Seddon, said, “The Alexander Drew factory was an important site for Rochdale. Bridge Point will bring that site into a new era, with more businesses and more new investment for the borough over the coming years.”
