Heywood Firm Completes Major Expansion

A Heywood firm has completed a major expansion project which has seen it boost staff and move to a new base.

Commercial Catering Spares (CC Spares) has been working with the Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council on its move to Axis Point, at Hareshill Business Park.

The company, which is one of the major spare part distributors into the UK foods foodservice market, has moved into two units covering 7,000 sq ft – more than doubling the size of its operation.

Jonathan Booth, who is one of the founders of the company, said: “It’s been a major move for us. We simply ran out of room for employees and stock at our old premises. RDA has been very helpful in showing us around potential new sites and offering us advice on the move.”

CC Spares was set up by Jonathan and his business partner Harry Street back in 1996. It has operated out of the same site on Southgate Industrial Estate ever since.

The company currently employs 32 people – having started out with just three members of staff. That number is set to rise again with the company working with Rochdale Borough Council’s Employment Links Partnership to recruit four new workers.

Julie Evans, Business Development Manager for the RDA, said: “It’s fantastic to see a company like CC Spares growing in the current climate.

“Our area boasts a number of sites like Axis Point that are ideal for both keeping companies in the area, and attracting new businesses. It puts us in a strong position during difficult times for the economy.”

Dewan Choudhury from Rochdale Borough Council’s Employment Links Partnership added:

“Employment Links Partnership was delighted to support CC Spares with their recruitment. We look forward to supporting them again in the future with any employment or training opportunities they have as a result of the expansion.”
