Broughton Controls relocates to Rochdale

A company that produces entrance control systems used around the world, including high security anti-terrorist products, has signed a deal for new premises at Stakehill Industrial Estate in Middleton, Rochdale.

Broughton Controls designs, manufactures and installs entrance control security measures used in everything from football stadia (including both Manchester United and Manchester City), to military establishments for governments around the globe.

With a range of products including crash resistant road barriers and gates, to bulletproof pedestrian entrance systems, Broughton has for 30 years protected Government, industry and commercial sites. The firm has signed a ten year lease for new 20,000 sq ft premises on the Stakehill Industrial Estate.

Rochdale Development Agency worked with the business park’s agents CB Richard Ellis, to attract the company to the newly refurbished business park that specialises in warehouse and office units.

Laurence Goode, Managing Director of Broughton Controls, said: “I was very impressed with the location of Stakehill which is close to junction 20 of the M62 and of the quality of the property on offer. Broughton’s expansion plans, which include work on the 2012 Olympics and some of the major new security projects around the world, now require much larger, and better premises. We have been impressed with the offers of help and support we have already received towards our relocation.”

Julie Evans, Business Development Manager at Rochdale Development Agency said: “We are delighted to welcome Broughton Controls to Rochdale. We have more than 20 business parks within the borough, so believe we have an excellent offer for any company considering a relocation. Stakehill currently has availability on units ranging from 3,000 up to 50,000sq ft  We will now work with Broughton Controls on sourcing business support to assist their business growth plans.”

Paul Cook, associate director of Industrial Agency at CB Richard Ellis North West added:  “Stakehill offers high quality out of town industrial space, while providing an ideal location for businesses that rely on fast, easy access to transport links. Occupiers are looking for quality premises; the refurbishment completed by the landlord, Aviva, was the underlying reason that Broughton Controls was attracted to the facility.”

CB Richard Ellis advised landlord, Aviva. GVA Grimley acted as joint agent.
