Kingsway Partnership Reach Out at Roadshows

The Kingsway Partnership has visited all the townships across Rochdale borough with a fun-fair themed roadshow, where members of the local community were given the chance to win £50 worth of high-street shopping vouchers.

The roadshow included a lucky duck game which challenged members of the local community to hook-a-duck and answer multiple-choice questions on Kingsway, whilst also being entered into a free prize draw to win the £50 worth of shopping vouchers.

Kelly Egan, a Heywood resident intrigued by the stand, commented “The stand is colourful and bright – children love it, well my son does! I now know that Kingsway is only down the road from me and will bring a lot more jobs to the area, which is just what we need.”

Rochdale resident, Teresa Russell, explained: “We really enjoyed playing on the Kingsway Lucky Duck Stand. It’s a great way to learn about Kingsway and engage with the community. It’s kept the grandchildren entertained – they loved it!”

Kathryn Holden, Kingsway marketing officer, added: “We’ve had very positive response from residents across the borough. It’s given us a great opportunity to inform the community about the benefits Kingsway will bring in terms of training for new skills, future jobs and transport.”

“We took 625 entry forms for the prize draws over the 4 days and over 1000 people in total had a go of the Lucky Duck Game and answered a Kingsway question – so each person who played went away learning one fact about Kingsway they might not have known before. ”

Howard Gibbons, Middleton shopping centre manager, commented: “ We were very pleased to be able to support the Kingsway Business Park in raising awareness of the free training, job opportunities and benefits it will bring to the borough. The stand was a great success and very busy all day. It was a great new way of catching the publics’ attention.”

The prize draw winners from each event are as follows:

  • Rochdale (26/08/08) – Tracey Griffin of Waithlands, Rochdale
  • Middleton (27/08/08) – D Kershaw of Middleton
  • Hollingworth Lake (28/08/08) – Julie Towsey of Littleborough
  • Heywood (29/08/08) – Andrew Johnston of Heywood

The Kingsway Recruitment Team is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
